R. Scott Hutcheson – Executive Chairman of the Board
R. Scott Hutcheson is the Executive Chair of Aspen Properties, a fully integrated, privately held real estate company based in the city of Calgary. Together with investment partners, Aspen owns and manages approximately $1.0 billion in assets, comprising 2.65 million square feet of downtown office space and 2,327 parking stalls in the cities of Calgary and Edmonton. The portfolio consists of seven buildings in downtown Calgary, one office building in the beltline, and two “AA” office towers in downtown Edmonton. Within the portfolio, an additional 1.2 million square feet of “AAA” LEED Gold office space has been approved for development. Aspen also owns the iconic Calgary Tower.
Prior to co-founding Aspen Properties in 1998, Hutcheson served as President of a real estate partnership in Florida that was financed by an ivy league university endowment fund. He was also previously employed as an investment banker for Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York and San Francisco. In addition to his position as Executive Chair of the Board of Aspen Properties, Hutcheson is an active member in the community serving on numerous boards; he is Chair-elect of the Board of Directors of Arts Commons, Co-Chair of the Board of Directors for Winterstart (the organization which operates both the men’s and women’s Alpine World Cup ski races at Lake Louise) and serves as Chair of the Board of WinSport (the organization that owns and operates the legacy assets from Calgary’s ’88 winter Olympics). He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Own the Podium and a member of the Board of Governors of Shawnigan Lake School. Hutcheson is the Co-Chair of Calgary Economic Development’s, Real Estate Advisory Committee, and a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (Gold). In the past decade, Hutcheson has served on five public company boards and has been an officer of three TSX companies. He was a member of the Canadian Alpine Ski Team (1978-1982), a first team All-American NCAA athlete and a member of four NCAA Championship Ski Teams. Hutcheson earned a Master of Science degree from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Utah and holds an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. He has been named one of Alberta's 50 most influential people by Alberta Venture Magazine.
Greg A. Guatto – President & Chief Executive Officer
Greg Guatto is the President & Chief Executive Officer, and a Director of Aspen Properties, a fully integrated, privately held real estate company based in the city of Calgary. Mr. Guatto and his long-time business partner Scott Hutcheson are the owners of Aspen Properties. Together with investment partners, Aspen owns and manages approximately $1.0 billion in assets, comprising 2.65 million square feet of downtown office space and 2,327 parking stalls in the cities of Calgary and Edmonton. The portfolio consists of seven buildings in downtown Calgary, which includes the recently constructed 300,000 square foot Palliser South office tower and two “AA” office towers in downtown Edmonton. Within the portfolio, an additional 1.25 million square feet of “AAA” LEED Gold office space has been approved for development (adjacent to the Calgary Tower, which Aspen owns.) Since inception, Aspen has owned and operated retail, office, industrial and residential assets in five provinces and the Northwest Territories. Since joining Aspen in 2001, Mr. Guatto has been responsible for the operations with a primary focus on the acquisitions, dispositions, financing and asset management functions of the company.
Mr. Guatto previously worked with TrizecHahn Properties Ltd. and Knowlton Realty Ltd. In 1990, he received an HBA in Business Administration with Honours, from the Ivey Business School at Western University.
Mr. Guatto is proud to be an Ambassador Council member of Amici Camping Charity; Chairman of the 2015 Calgary Real Estate Forum, as well as a Calgary Alumni Leadership Advisory Group member for the Ivey Business School. Mr. Guatto also works with young professionals in the mentorship program for both NAIOP and the Entrepreneurs Organization (E.O.) of Calgary.
Rob Blackwell – Senior Vice President, Investments & Asset Management
Rob Blackwell joined Aspen Properties in October 2004 as Leasing Manager of the Calgary office portfolio. Since starting with Aspen, he has been promoted multiple times and is now the Senior Vice President, Investments & Asset Management as of October 2015. Rob leads the leasing and property management of the Aspen portfolio, as well as identifying and executing upon acquisition opportunities for the company. In addition, he oversees the long term asset management strategy for Aspen including managing mortgage financing, value creation initiatives and capital spending strategies. Together with investment partners, Aspen owns and manages approximately $1.0 billion in assets, comprising 2.65 million square feet of downtown office space and 2,327 parking stalls in the cities of Calgary and Edmonton.
He is on the Board of Directors at BOMA Calgary, an industry association that promotes the professional standards of commercial building ownership and property management, as well as an fundraiser account executive for the United Way of Calgary.
Mr. Blackwell is a graduate of the University of Calgary with a Degree in Commerce (Finance).
Kelly J. Wildeman – Vice President, Financial Reporting & Corporate Services
Kelly Wildeman joined Aspen Properties in June 2002 as Controller and was promoted to Vice President, Financial Reporting & Corporate Services in October 2013. His primary responsibilities include financial reporting, audit, tax planning and compliance, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, insurance and cash management.
Mr. Wildeman is a Certified Management Accountant with several years of extensive experience.
Prior to Aspen Properties, he spent three years as Assistant Controller for a large Western Canadian construction company. Previous experience included the energy sector in Calgary and public practice in Saskatoon.
